Maria Chatziathanasiou picture

Maria Chatziathanasiou is a Research Associate at the Hellenic Institute of Transport (ΗΙΤ) of the Centre for Research and Technology Hellas (CERTH).

After graduating as a Civil Engineer from the Aristotle University of Thessaloniki (A.U.TH.) in 2005, she acquired her MSc diploma on “Design, Organization and Management of Transportation Systems” from A.U.TH in 2007. Since then, she has worked, as a freelance civil and transport engineer, mostly in the field of public traffic, parking and environmental studies.

Since November 2010, when her cooperation with HIT-CERTH initiated, her research and job interest focuses mainly on the fields of macro simulation, traffic data analysis, demand and mobility management, development of sustainable mobility systems, citizens’’ and stakeholders’ engagement and awareness raising in sustainable mobility planning, as well as on the training of minors on road safety issues and mobility behaviour.
