Dr. Lambros Mitropoulos holds a BEng and an MSc in Transport from the Imperial College of London, 2006. He received his PhD in Transportation Planning from the University of Hawai’i, Manoa in 2011. Dr Mitropoulos is a Research Associate at the Hellenic Institute of Transport (HIT), Centre for Research and Technology Hellas (CERTH) and holds an adjunct lecturer position on Railway Engineering and Airport Planning at the University of West Attica, Greece. He currently works on railway transportation system and services, sustainable transportation systems, electric vehicles and lifecycle impacts. Prior joining CERTH, Dr. Mitropoulos held a Research Associate a Postdoctoral Research position at the University of Hawaii, where he worked on traffic forecasting and sustainable transportation of urban systems. He has also worked in transportation projects, which were funded by the Federal Highway Administration (FHWA) and the European Commission. Dr. Mitropoulos has awarded the PIARC 2011 First Prize for Sustainable Development Paper and has published for several academic journals.
