Maria Gkemou is a Principal Researcher at the Hellenic Institute of Transport (HIT) of Centre for Research and Technology Hellas (CERTH) and Head of Clean and Autonomous Vehicles and of Industrial design, Intelligent Materials and Manufacturing in Transport labs. She is a Mechanical and Aeronautical Engineer from the Polytechnic school of the University of Patras in Greece as of 2003 and she owns a PhD on driving behaviour modelling from the Transport Engineering Laboratory of the Aristotle University of Thessaloniki in Greece. Her main fields of expertise are CCAΜ, C-ITS, road safety, driving simulation, sustainable and clean mobility, field trials and training in transport field. She works at CERTH/HIT since 2003, she is currently Scientific Responsible in a national project, Sup-project leader and key member of the Technical Management team of SHOW H2020 Innovation Action, whilst, in the past, has been Technical Manager in two H2020 projects. She has participated in more than 30 research projects overall, she is author of more than 60 publications in refereed journals, books and peer reviewed conferences, she is/has been expert (evaluator/reviewer) in EU funded programmes (COAL & STEEL; H2020), reviewer/judge in 10 scientific journals and member of TRA Lisbon 2022 Programme Committee.
