Ms. Annie Kortsari is a research associate at the Hellenic Institute of Transport at the Centre for Research and Technology Hellas. She holds a degree in civil engineering from the Aristotle University of Thessaloniki and a Master’s in Business Administration from the University of Macedonia, Greece. She is currently a PhD candidate in the area of railway transport with her Thesis focusing on railway freight transport between Europe and Asia. She has been working in the Institute since 2005 and has participated in numerous research projects and transport studies, while she is author of many scientific papers.

She is in charge of the Laboratory dedicated to “Rail Transport System and Services” of HIT, focusing on the organization and further development of railway transport in order to ensure radically improved railway systems that can act as a valuable and environmental friendly alternative to other transport modes, as well as part of an integrated, multimodal transport chain. She also holds vast experience in mobility management, seasonal transport demand management, intelligent transport systems, as well as electrification in the maritime sector.
