Following the signing of an Memorandum of Cooperation between the Department of Business Administration of the University of Macedonia and the Hellenic Institute of Transport (CERTH/HIT) and the rest joint actions of the two bodies, a Conference on Sustainable Urban Mobility and the role of marketing in changing travelers’ behavior, was co-organized. The conference was held on Tuesday, 05/12/2023, at the University with the presence of postgraduate students of the Business Administration (MBA) and Business Analytics and Data Science Masters while also being open to the public.
The Conference was greeted by the Director of MBA, Mr. Georgiou Andreas, and the Director of CERTH/HIT, Dr. Evangelos Bekiaris, emphasizing the need to connect the academic and student communities with research and its practical application.
The Conference included lectures from both bodies’ representatives, professors and researchers, who shared their knowledge and experiences on urban mobility and behavior change (Ass. Professor Dimitrios Kafetzopoulos), traveler’s behavior modeling (Prof. Christos Vasileiadis), transport systems dynamic (Dr. Giorgos Tsaples, Postdoctoral Researcher) and the potential impact of marketing techniques on achieving the vision of sustainable mobility (HIT’s Laboratory of Sustainable Mobility: Dr. Maria Morfoulaki - Operational Scientist A', Dr. Glykeria Myrovali & Maria Chatziathanasiou - Research Associates).
Following the theoretical part, through an interactive exercise on Urban Mobility promotion facilitated by HIT’s team, the participants had the opportunity to discuss and exchange ideas on the real implementation of practices from the field of marketing in sustainable urban mobility planning.
