On June 13th 2018 at the Cotsen Hall of the Gennadius Library of the American School of Classical Studies, the Fulbright Greece Foundation, along with the celebration of its 70th anniversary, awarded the 2018-2019 Scholarships to the Greek grantees. Mr. Eleftherios Sdoukopoulos, PhD Candidate at the Department of Maritime Studies – University of Piraeus and Associate Researcher at the Hellenic Institute of Transport of the Centre for Research and Technology Hellas, was awarded with a ‘Doctoral Dissertation Visiting Research Student’ Scholarship and will be visiting this autumn (Oct 2018 – Jan 2019) the University of Memphis – Department of Civil Engineering, where he will conduct a short-term research on the assessment of port-hinterland network and corridor efficiency and productivity in the U.S. as part of his doctoral research, under the supervision of Assoc. Prof. Maria Boile and his U.S. host Assoc. Prof. Mihalis Golias.
Recipients of Fulbright grants are selected on the basis of academic or professional achievement, as well as demonstrated leadership potential in their fields. The Fulbright Program is the flagship international educational exchange program sponsored by the U.S. government and is designed to increase mutual understanding between the people of the United States and the people of other countries.
