First Face Shields (masks) provided by EKETA to AHEPA and Papanikolaou Hospitals
With a strong sense of responsibility towards the public health of the country and the Greek people who are facing challenging times, the Hellenic Institute of Transport of the Centre for Research and Technology Hellas (HIT/CERTH) implements its unique know-how and cutting-edge technology for assisting health authorities in the battle against the New Coronavirus.
By utilizing the advanced technology and services of the LABORATORY OF INDUSTRIAL DESIGN AND MANIFACTURING “FAB LAB”, HIT/CERTH, along with Information Technologies Institute (ITI/CERTH) and Chemical Process and Energy Resources Institute (CPERI/CERTH), have manufactured through 3D printing technology face protection shields (masks) to support the work of medical personnel, within the framework of a wider action. HIT has already manufactured 45 such masks.
On Wednesday, 8th of April, the Centre for Research and Technology Hellas, in collaboration with the International Hellenic University (Departments of Industrial Engineering & Management and Management Science and Technology) and the companies "ANiMA - The 3D Printer Experts", "Thes3D", "Quick3Dparts" and "Retouch-Health Solutions", handed 200 face shields to the University General Hospital of Thessaloniki AHEPA and to the General Hospital of G. Papanikolaou of Thessaloniki, in order to protect the Medical personnel from the transmission of the New Coronavirus.
The supply of the protective face shields will be carried on upon communication with Hospital Administrations.
