Acronym: ETNA
Project Title: European Thematic Network on Assistive Information Technologies
Duration: 36
months (01/01/2011 - 31/12/2013)

Description &Objectives: ICT-based assistive technology products - as well as accessibility solutions for mainstream ICT products and services - are powerful drivers for inclusion and quality of life of people with disabilities and elderly people. They helped compensate for functional limitations and tackle barriers in all types of environment, thus playing a central role in equalizing opportunities. Ensuring access to ICT assistive equipment, systems and services is not straightforward. Information on existing products is often patchy and not well distributed; the needed expertise is in the hands of few specialists scattered throughout Europe; the market is still a niche dominated by highly specialised small or medium enterprises. The ETNA Thematic Network worked at addressing this issue, in collaboration with another Thematic Network, ATIS4All (Assistive Technology and Inclusive Solutions for All) and the EASTIN Association (European Assistive Technology Information Network).

HIT key role and responsibilities: HIT is Partner in the project.
