Project Title: UNIVERsal open platform and reference Specification for Ambient Assisted Living
Duration: 48 months (01/02/2010 - 31/01/2014)

Description & Objectives: UniversAAL aims to promote the development and widespread uptake of innovative Ambient Assisted Living (AAL) solutions, but also to reduce barriers for their adoption. It will benefit end-users (i.e. elderly people and people with disabilities, their carers and family members) by making new solutions affordable, simple to configure, personalise and deploy. universAAL aims to produce an open platform that provides a standardized approach making it technically feasible and economically viable to develop AAL solutions. The platform will be produced by a mixture of new developments and consolidation of state‐of‐the art results from existing initiatives.

HIT key role and responsibilities: HIT is Partner in the UniversAAL project.
