Duration: 40 months (08/10/2021 – 08/02/2025)
Description & Objectives:
The project aims at utilizing a set of state-of-the-art technologies, smart city infrastructures, and tools for data analysis, as well as using citizens' smartphones as an innovative tool to improve the individual and collective sense of security. The general idea is based on participatory sensing of people and infrastructure, enabling a framework for safe movement and support in locating people and objects through the actions of volunteers and local authorities.
The objectives of the project focus on the following:
- Creating a safe urban environment and enhancing the safety of citizens moving within cities.
- Improving economic growth through a healthy environment.
- Collecting and managing data in real time and enabling information access for authorities and services (Police, Civil Protection, Care Services, Public Authorities).
HIT Key Role and Responsibilities:
HIT is responsible for developing the platform that collects and processes data from various urban sources and the application for safe pedestrian routing for citizens and tourists.

The entity was co-funded by the European Union and Greece under the Action “Investment Plans of Innovation” of the Program “Central Macedonia”, PARD 2021-2027. The project (ΚΜΡ6-0081411) utilizes cutting-edge technologies, smart city infrastructure, citizen smartphones, and data analysis tools to improve security in urban areas. The project budget is €397,350, with public expenditure of €305,195.
