To make HIT the main and integrated Research Pole in the fields of Transport, Sustainable Mobility and Tourism in Greece and among the top 10 relevant nodes of technology and expertise in Europe.

Duration: 24 months (08/10/2021 – 30/09/2023)

 

Description & Objectives

The project aims at utilizing a set of state-of-the-art technologies, smart city infrastructures and tools for data analysis, as well as using citizens' smartphones as an innovative tool to improve the individual and collective sense of security. The general idea of the project is based on the participatory sensing of people and infrastructure, through which a protection framework will be achieved for safe movement and support in locating people and objects thanks to the actions of volunteers and local authorities.

The objectives of the project focus on the following:

  • Creating a safe urban environment and enhancing the safety of the citizens that move within the cities.
  • Improving economic growth through a healthy environment
  • Collecting and managing data, in real time, and the creating the ability to search for information from competent bodies and services (Police, Civil Protection, Care services, Public Authorities).

 

HIT key role and responsibilities: HIT is responsible for the development of the platform that collects and process the data derived from the different sources within the city and the development of the application for safe pedestrian routing for citizens and visitors/tourists.
