Acronym: DeliNet

Project Title: Development of an innovative service for same-day, on demand urban deliveries

Description:

The DeliNet project aims to develop, evaluate, and promote the DeliNet integrated service for on-demand same-day urban deliveries.

The primary goal of DeliNet is to address market gaps by offering quality-enhancing solutions in urban delivery through reduced delivery time, increased order visibility, elimination of failed deliveries, and minimization of the environmental footprint. By holistically addressing last-mile delivery needs, DeliNet enhances the overall shopping experience for e-commerce businesses, online retail, and food delivery customers.   • Express delivery with direct communication for on-demand service from professional couriers.
  • Efficient product shipping to customers from the nearest store.
  • Stock replenishment between store locations.
  • Instant returns scheduled at a specific time and place.

To achieve its objectives, DeliNet has set the following goals:

  1. Development – Creation of the DeliNet Service
    1. Technical development of innovative and user-friendly software solutions, including a platform, mobile application, and website.
    2. Coordination of the management team to meet the operational requirements of the pilot implementation (drivers, administrators, IT, customer support).
  2. Evaluation – Testing and Optimization of the Service
    1. The service is tested under real-world conditions, handling delivery requests from citizens in Thessaloniki.
    2. The service undergoes technical and operational evaluation, ensuring optimization in terms of technical requirements and business model adaptation.
  3. Promotion – Awareness and Preparation for Full Operation

    The service is promoted to the broader public in preparation for its full-scale implementation upon project completion.

HIT key role and responsibilities:

As a project partner, IMET (Institute of Transport and Logistics) has the following responsibilities:

  • Monitoring and updating user requirements by analyzing the needs of consumers and e-commerce businesses while tracking economic and social changes.
  • Developing computational tools by utilizing spatial analysis, machine learning, and optimization techniques.
  • Conducting technical evaluations of the pilot applications to finalize the service and provide strategic recommendations for future development.
