Title: Development of an integrated e-service to support bike sharing systems
Duration: 36 Months (01/06/2018 - 31/05/2021)
Description: Bikesharing systems play an important role in transport planning for modern cities and contribute importantly to achieve sustainability in transport. The goal of iBikeShare project is to support operators and planners of bikesharing systems for optimal decision making on design, operation and management issues. For this purpose, the project seeks to develop appropriate tools and mechanisms to exploit data from the operation of bikesharing systems, using modern techniques such gamification and crowdsourcing, through which an interactive approach and communication can be achieved with users from different groups, with different habits and under different conditions.
Objectives: The iBikeShare project aims at developing an integrated service to support the design, management and use of bikesharing systems in order to improve services provided by the systems and attract new users. The ultimate goal of the project is to serve the principles of sustainable urban mobility and in particular to help promote bicycle as a means of transport that can serve commuting trips, not just leisure.
The project is coordinated by CERTH/HIT, and the rest of the consortium includes:
